Step 1
Research & sketching
I researched Luis Barragan's artwork and style, then I created 20 sketches of possible poster layouts for the exhibition.
Step 2
Picking and refining top 2 sketches
I picked two sketches and refined them, digitized them on individual posters created on Adobe Illustrator.

Step 3
Redesigning
I realized the two chosen images were not suitable in resolution and composition, so I selected a new image and started a new design.
Limitation / Conclusion / Reflection
Limitations
There are only a few high definition Luis Barragan artwork on the internet. Therefore, it was hard to use clear images for my poster background. I attempted to solve this problem by using a function called “make pixel perfect” in Adobe Illustrator.
Also, I searched on Google images for higher resolution artwork. There were not many, but I managed to find a few.
Conclusion
The theme that I have observed by researching Luis' artwork is he uses vibrant colours and combination of geometric shapes. Which inspired my design to apply vibrant c My project turned out quite well; however, the resolution could have been higher if the image had not been cropped and stretched. Nevertheless, the objective was met and the poster delivered the intended message.I learned it is important to pick a high resolution image that is without multiple distracting details.
Reflection
In the future, I would proceed differently by doing more in-depth research before sketching the designs so the poster would be closer to the artist’s style. Also, some images were not suitable as it had too many elements and might be distracting for the eye if text is added on top. I will ensure the legibility of the design moving forward. I will apply these skills and lessons beyond this course by making more posters. In addition, when I see posters in my daily life, I will be more aware of how to modify them. These newly-acquired design skills will be helpful in my future career.
